The mellowing of Jason Allen
dtucker866 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Loves a virtue for heroes as high as the snow high hills. Immortal as every great soul is.that struggles endures and fulfills.this is quite an eloquent bit of prose from Mister Kaufman as he, Liz and Pete see Jason Allen, always so sullen and cynical fall for a beautiful girl named Elaine he meets in gym class. However, Liz is immediately concerned that Elaine's straight laced conservate father won't be won over by Jason's, ahem, unique personality (the comic element of this episode is Liz predicts the way that this affair will go as accurately as Jeane Dixon). Elaine does seem to have a wonderful effect on Jason he even started volunteering and handing in his homework assignments to Pete's delight. However, her father IS turned off by Jason and he comes up with a plan to have Richie basically "beard" for him with disasterous results. This is a good episode that is comedy of errors. There is an early appearance by Lynne Hamilton on this episode (she was later Donna on Sanford and Son),

Jason In Love

Jason falls for pretty student Elaine, but her strict father does not approve.

Another very good Season 1 episode. Elaine is played by gorgeous Brenda Sykes. Elaine's father meets sullen and unambitious Jason and refuses to let his daughter go out with him. Then they come up with a plan and have the more polite and well dressed Richie to pose as Elaine's date and then meet up with Jason outside. Some good scenes as the ruse is exposed. Lynne Hamilton plays Elaine's mother, she would later be Donna on "Sanford And Son". Sid McCoy plays the father, he would have many small parts on TV during this time, including "Sanford And Son".
