Actress Debra Winger saw this episode where her name is mentioned. She later said in a 2002 interview to the "New York Times" publication: "I remember walking through the living room years ago when the series 'Roseanne' was on. 'John Goodman, as Dan, said, 'Come on, do you want to go down to the multiplex and watch Debra Winger cough up another lung?' It was the funniest line to me. Then I realized, that's it for me. I can never do another film about death. I've cashed that card.'' (She had earned two Academy Award nominations as Best Actress for Terms of Endearment (1983) and Shadowlands (1993), and in both films, she played young women who died of cancer.)
When Brian freezes Roseanne says for him "Bye Darlene see you at school tomorrow." Later Becky asks Darlene how does she know Brian won't tell everyone at school on Monday.
The title is a reference to the Madonna song of the same name.
