Advising Tod and the FBI is the charismatic leader's own father, who can't stop his brilliant, deranged son by himself.—David Stevens
- When Tod and Buz are sightseeing at Bunker Hill in Boston, Massachusetts, they are approached by a man named John Westerbrook who admires them in dissuading some youth who were going to vandalize a monument. The son of famous Bostonian Henry Westerbrook, John, an obvious American patriot, offers to show them the historic sights of Boston. Tod and Buz accept his offer, despite them being somewhat wary of John, a man with an entourage, including a motorcycle brigade, and an armed bodyguard. They are even more wary when John, upon bidding them goodbye, offers his help to them in any way including "power of any sort". Tod and Buz will eventually learn from the FBI that John leads a hate mongering supremacist group, who are against any minority in the US who he believes has infected the purity of the country. The FBI asks them to do voluntary service in infiltrating John's entourage to discover where he has hidden a cache of plastic explosives, which he is obviously planning on using for some nefarious purpose. Despite the FBI's former field agent on the case probably being killed for getting too close, they believe Tod and Buz would be in less danger as John approached them, civilians who he would not suspect. Tod and Buz agree, but find that they will have to make some even tougher choices in working for the FBI on this case. They feel that the weak link in John's entourage is Amelia Van Ness, who comes from money and is probably bankrolling John's operation. They don't think she believes in John's mission, but is with him because she loves him as a woman loves a man.—Huggo
