Eugene Levy was a fan of Perry Como and was concerned that the singer would feel insulted by "Perry Como: Still Alive." Around the taping of this episode the cast was profiled by Life Magazine. Tired of being seen as only the McKenzie Brothers, Dave Thomas and Rick Moranis appeared in the photo shoot as their Russian characters. They were amused that these obscure, one-shot characters appeared alongside beloved station regulars such as Edith Prickley and Bobby Bittman.
