Fly me to St. Louis and shut the gate on that clown
kevinolzak11 December 2016
"Superflyer" opens with attorney Lester Barrington (Wally Taylor) delivering the sad news to Fred that his uncle Leotis has died. The old man denies remembering his late uncle, until learning that he's been left $1500 to take care of the funeral arrangements. Lamont recalls his father once mentioning Leotis, not the swift Jesse Owens-type athlete but a childless old geezer with a club foot! One condition to get the money is that Sanford and Son must take a plane to St. Louis, despite Fred's fear of flying the not so friendly skies. The stewardesses aren't enough to keep Fred from creating havoc during the first class flight, spending most of his time on the toilet because the flashing sign said 'return to seat!' Once in St. Louis they realize that the inheritance was only intended for interment, barely enough left to pay for the return flight to LA. Fred's conversation with Elizabeth sums up his feelings about Uncle Leotis: "shut the gate on that clown!" Norma Miller (first of three) plays the infamous Jackie - 'fly me!'
