Grady Wilson's first completed episode
kevinolzak11 December 2016
"This Little TV Went to Market" was the first completed episode to feature Whitman Mayo's Grady Wilson, waiting three weeks after the first to be broadcast ("Libra Rising All Over Lamont"). Fred's old TV set has finally gone belly up, so he looks for a bargain at Guy's Groovy Grab Bag, who work a cash and carry plan: "you carry in the cash, and then you can carry out the merchandise!" Lamont plans on buying a new set when he gets home from work, only to find his father watching a TV he bought in front of the pool hall. Grady drops by to watch the fights, and instantly notices how much Fred's TV looks like his stolen set. The two nearly come to blows before Grady brings in Officer Hoppy (Howard T. Platt) and one time partner Officer Jones (Bernie Hamilton) to conduct an investigation. By the time they arrive Fred has already unloaded the hot set on a cool customer - Julio! Hoppy's attempts to assimilate using black slang are hilariously off the mark: "you've been torn off" "ripped off!"/"time for us to crack" "split!"
