John Belushi's Little Chocolate Donuts sketch where he plays an Olympic decathlete was inspired by Wheaties breakfast cereal and their slew of famous athletes that would grace the front of the boxes. Caitlyn Jenner, then known as Bruce Jenner, who won the gold in the 1976 Olympic's decathlon competition, was one of the most famous athletes to appear on the box and was likely the inspiration for the sketch. Getting Belushi to do the sketch took some persuading because, despite Belushi's often comic use of his bulky physique, he still didn't relish the idea of dressing up in a decathlete's jersey and shorts. However, he knew playing it straight would be a very funny gag so he agreed.
