Once again Amanda is mistaken for a hot-shot agent because of her incompetence.
After a spate of excellent episodes Amanda finally gets sent on a training course, where she is by turns incompetent or successful by accident, like Inspector Clouseau.
This is one of the great romance/comedy/aventure shows of the 80s, like Remington Steel though not as flaky as Moonlighting. And unlike those shows, which mostly featured newcomers who became megastars, "Scarecrow" featured seasoned prime-time veterans Bruce Boxleitner and Kate Jackson. It was normally entertaing and mostly harmless, though like all TV shows given to leftist tropes because Hollywood writers think in a rut. But when it degenerates to late-Pink Panther levels it's merely annoying.
And, of course, Francine (lovely former Playboy gatefold Martha Smith) has a little too much small-screen time trying to get Amanda in trouble and wash her out. Smith's exceptionally worth watching but a little of her character Francine carries me a long way.
