THE FEAR THAT FOLLOWS is an episode undoubtedly influenced by the popular success of THE X-FILES on television at the time. The story is of alien contact, treated with the appropriate gravitas in the same style as CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND. I didn't mind it at all; the serious subject matter gives Scheider an opportunity to act all worried and awed. There's even a little light romance for Ted Raimi, one of my favourite actors in the show.
