Based on the BBC radio series. There was consternation from the press when it was ITV who adapted it as a sitcom for television.

I just assume the BBC thought it would be garbage.

The premise of the series is that both Bill Macgregor (James Bolan) and Faith Grayshott (Lynda Bellingham) are middle aged and divorced.

Both are in love with each other. Faith has two teenage kids. Bill is a magazine artist whose manipulative ex wife Liza (Belinda Lang) also works in the same company as Bill.

The first episode has Bill being introduced to Faith's children with a view to moving in with them.

Liza knowing that Bill is moving in with someone wants the jardinière in his house. As this was in the days before Google, millions of ITV viewers were thinking why does she want a French policeman?

It all leads to both Bill and Faith having second thoughts.

Given this has already gone out on radio. The writers failed to give this any jokes the second time round. It was not funny, if this was a parrot, it had expired. There was not one titter from me.

I did not watch this when it was first broadcast so I count myself lucky. Belinda Lang appeared in the much better and funnier 2 Point 4 Children at about the same time on the BBC.
