Warning: Spoilers
In "The Bookstore" George takes a book off the shelf into a bookstore bathroom and is forced to buy it. He tries to return it but is always declined. Jerry catches Uncle Leo shoplifting and wants to teach him a lesson. Elaine makes out with a coworker at an office party and pretends to date him so she doesn't become the office skank. Kramer and Newman buy themselves a rickshaw and try to start a new business in NYC using the homeless as drivers.

I feel like a lot of the final season episodes have George's subplot as being the funniest and this episode is no exception. The bathroom book thing is great and Jerry turning on him in the end is one of the show's great final scenes of any episode. All the other subplots are pretty solid as well. An appearance from Uncle Leo is always welcomed and is defeated "hello" when he's caught is ine the saddest, funniest things I've ever seen. The homeless rickshaw plot is some of the blackest comedy you'll see from this show but I think it works. Really good ep.

Absurdity Goes On and On
Hitchcoc17 June 2023
Like so many of these episodes, short on plot, there were some choice moments. George is at a high end bookstore, takes an expensive art book into the bathroom, and then is force to pay a hundred bucks for it. He spends the whole episode trying to get his money back. Elaine gets drunk and makes out with a guy at an office party and is afraid of her reputation. Newman and Kramer decide that what New York needs is a chain of rickshaws pulled by homeless people. The premise is pretty funny, but we don't need a genius to tell us it isn't going to work. Jerry deals with Uncle Leo's shoplifting and his parents' cavalier attitude about theft by old people.

Reflections on The Bookstore

Warning: Spoilers
I've been a fan of Seinfeld since it debuted over three decades ago, and I'm enjoying re-watching and reflecting on Seinfeld, especially as we approach the end again and again due to reruns which is a testament to the enduring popularity of Seinfeld from generations to generations. When watching The Bookstore, it brought back memories of when the brick and mortar bookstore was so prominent in our society. Some of the books that I noticed in the Brentano's bookstore: The Bungalow: America's Arts And Crafts Home, Just Puppies, Just Labs, Total Control, The Hobbit, Sister Wendy's Ground Tour, Your Dog's Brain, The Photo Book.

Hong Kong and Papua New Guinea were referred to in this episode.

Tribute review for Sonya Eddy
ThunderKing625 December 2022
This review that you are currently reading was typed on Decem 25 2022.

About: George went to the potty and read a book and he was forced to buy it. Kramer and The mailman exploit homeless people. Jerry has to deal with his shoplifting uncle and Elaine... Who cares.

The best story was Georges storyline. The rest were "cringe"

Story and Production: Only George's storyline was engaging and funny. Him trying to return a book that he read on the potty was comical.

Jerry's storyline wasn't bad. He storyline was only engaging at the end.

Newman and Cosmo storyline was "cringe"

Elaine.. Again who the hash cares?

Laughameter rating: 3

Highlight: Sonya Eddys part.

Should you watch this episode? Only for George's part. You can search it on YouTube and save yourself 15 minutes.
