Frank and Kramer: A Bromance
Samuel-Shovel30 July 2018
Warning: Spoilers
In "The Doll", George is freaked out by one of Susan's dolls that looks exactly like his mother. Elaine mentions to George and Frank that she passed a shop in Tuscany called Constanza. Frank is convinced it is his cousin. Frank decides to turn George's old room into a billiards room but when him and Kramer try to play, the walls surrounding the table are too close. Jerry must figure out a new prop for his appearance on a talk show but an old friend of Susan's continues to get in his way. Elaine tries to replace an autographed poster she ruined for the Maestro.

Frank and Kramer's friendship is one of my favorite relationships on the show. Their interactions are always hilarious and bring some classic moments. The episode overall isn't one of my favorites from this season but it is a good one. I always enjoy a Maestro appearance and we get a nice callback to when that lady thought George was a loon.

Total Frustration

Jerry is done in by Susan's friend who wants to help but doesn't listen to what he says. He wants a type of barbecue sauce with a picture on the label that looks like Charles Grodin. She doesn't get that it's part of the comedy routine. Susan has a doll collection. One of the dolls looks exactly like George's mother. It's terrifying. She messes that up as well. The other plot involves Elaine and the Maestro and walking around with no pants. Also, George's dad decides to use his old room as a pool hall. This leads to a sort of W. C. Fields bit with Kramer and the Maestro. It could have been funnier, but it wasn't bad.

Living Doll

Warning: Spoilers
The final scene in The Doll was set in Tuscany, with Frank Costanza (Jerry Stiller) travelling to Tuscany to meet up with someone who he thought was a long lost relative, but it happened it wasn't, and his name was Giuseppe (also played by Jerry Stiller). The ending was quite sober and serious. Anyway, the doll aspect was hilarious and kind of reminded of the famous Twilight Zone episode, Living Doll, that starred Telly Savalas (before he played Kojak). The Maestro (Mark Metcalfe) was hilarious and sadly he suffers when he plays with a broken baton at the end when conducting a confused orchestra.

I like the bit where they use that little stick to play pool and then they break it.
