- Carrie drags Berger along shopping to Prada, and brags with a check from her publisher for success in Europe, but learns then her publisher dumped both her supervisor Courtney and Berger; when he takes her on a rather wild bike ride, she freaks out. Miranda still wrestles with her feelings for Steve; Charlotte feels like a basket case after Harry dumps her. When Samantha learns Jerry has dropped his waiter job to do a terribly bad paying play outside Manhattan, he can only lure her to it by promising hot sex afterward. She decides to help him by doing its PR, based on the fact he goes full-frontal in it, and aces its premiere.—KGF Vissers
- Carrie takes Berger to a Prada store, where she is a regular. She gifts him a really expensive shirt after she receives a big royalty check for her book sales (She got a check for $25,000 after the publishers sold her book in Paris), which upsets Berger. Carrie did not know that Berger's follow-on book deal had been dropped. Carrie ran into Courtney (Amy Sedaris) who tells her that she herself was fired after all her authors (including Berger) were dropped for not generating enough sales. Now Carrie is not sure if she should discuss with Berger or wait for him to bring up the topic.
Berger is proud of Carrie for scoring a large check but doesn't want charity when Carrie offers a meeting with her new editor.
A lovesick Miranda helps Steve bake cupcakes-for his new girlfriend Debbie for her birthday. But she would still not reveal to Steve that she likes him and wants him back in her life. Steve leaves mid-way as he has to work, and Miranda offers to finish baking and icing them with letters. 20 cupcakes. Miranda calls Carrie and admits that she was hoping to impress Steve and make him fall in love with her all over again.
Charlotte is reluctant to date after Harry leaves her. She is not willing to give up her newfound Hebrew beliefs and will date only other Hebrews. Anthony goes with Charlotte to help find a new guy, but she insists that she is not ready to date yet.
Samantha takes charge of the PR for Jerry's struggling play where he gives a striking-and nude-performance. They play is in Brooklyn and Samantha doesn't do borough. Jerry convinces her to watch with a sex deal. Samantha decides to take on the PR when Jerry informs her that he quit his waiter job (as they would not give him time off to do the play) to focus on theatre full time. Samantha understands that Jerry has put his entire career on the line for this play. She says that promotion for this play is not good. Jerry says that the group don't have money for that kind of thing, and they are getting paid $30 for the play. There is no money for PR. Samantha decides to help Jerry promote the play and to turn Jerry into a star. She gives him a new name "Smith Jerrod".
Samantha invites Carrie to the red-carpet day for the play. Carrie is amazed to see that Jerry is not threatened by Samantha's offer to help him. Samantha says that the young guys are not threatened by women having power. Carrie wears Prada, but Berger makes her go with him on his bike (helmet and all). Carrie is furious later since she felt sick and in danger, as Berger drove fast. Carrie says that she is not willing to die on a bike, just so Berger can feel like a man and that she is not sorry that she made the money, as she earned it. She never figured Berger to be the type of person to have a problem with it. Berger apologizes to Carrie and takes off alone.
Samantha's PR is a huge hit as the whole of Manhattan glitterati comes to watch and goes away impressed. Carrie introduces Charlotte to hr Prada salesman Tony (William Abadie) at the play.
