Dominoes Falling (#2.13)

Warning: Spoilers
A pretty good finale! A lot happened.

I can't believe Danni is fired. I should have thought so because of the Armadillo case. I still feel we will get to see more from her. Maybe Vic will end up helping her as he knows that it wasn't her who missed the knife.

Acevada won the election! I guess this will end up in us still having him as a character and see Claudette in the leader role. I think I will love it in the next season.

Julien being attacked for being gay will definitely be a story in the next season. I hope to see those horrible cops pay for it a lot. Since Danni told Acevada about those problems they might be screwed.

Weirdly enough the story with the money train didn't get me too attached to it. But at the same time it was big and I look forward to the consequences.

This is how you end a season ! Quiet before the storm

Warning: Spoilers
This is exactly what this show needed, direction of going from crooked to super crooked ! The money train was gonna happen eventually. We know all the strike team's motivations robbing it. For Vic it is for a rainy day, political situation has changed since season 1 and Gilroy ( assistant chief ) doesn't have his back anymore, maybe that is why he came up with it in the first place. Shane pushed Lemansky ( Lemonhead ) to go with it . Lemansky's motivations are unclear, his just seems to be pushed over by the boundaries . Ronnie however came up with the garbage truck plan so he is in aswell.

It is nice to see how they push the political agenda in the show, everybody has to appear and active on the case because The Barn is on the line of firing people because of the budget cut.

We get to see Claudette's other daughter , I find her performance strong here and how Wyms ex husband was shot to death over rolling over some damn dominoes. Dutch and Claudette relationship getting stronger by each episode, even if they don't see to agree with each other they find a way back mesh and banter.

What I found a little overdone was Tavon questioning the suspect with either vile way , playing russian roulette . Was this his moment to prove that he really wants to be in the strike team and get validation or was this to solve the case, either way we see Vic glance a sneaky smile towards him.

Acaveda winning the campaign poll was pretty obvious , but I am glad he did cause then he would of been no use for the storyline. So in the next season we see him juggle the captain position.

Great performances and funny moments: Shane probably the first time ever using the Cletus Van Damme alias as he witnessed a car accident , the guy they happened to follow , Lem being the opposite of not scared but assisting Shane to go in without Vic in the black hole , Shane being the opposite quote '' I am not getting you all killed '' , every strike team member glancing over the big pile of cash.

The end montage Live by Overcome , such a good song that adds to the mood ending the episode. Everybody now realizing what they have done and what is this gonna bring ?

The big pile of cash they now stole , that is the strike teams transaction. What happens now ? This is what season 3 opens all the gateways.

Nearly as good as the season 1 finale but is weakened by not being as well set up.

Warning: Spoilers
This finale wasn't as good as the first season finale, but only by very little. Season 1 had excellent build up plot and character wise, with pay off to multiple storylines at once. I went back to review it because it deserves so much praise.

Season 2 similarly works in the same regard with great pay off to many storylines, and characters, but it didn't have as much of the great set up because of stuff behind the scenes (Armadillo actor leaving prematurely) causing the season to be changed after episode 8 which killed off Armadillo in a shocking way. This led to the rest of the episodes having to be changed from the original plan of Armadillo being the main villain for the season, and it unfortunately led to the worst episode, Co-Pilots, because the writers didn't have anything ready to shoot. The finale introduced a storyline out of now where with gang members deciding to kill random civilians, which honestly felt forced and weakens the finale for me, but it still worked and brought for great intensity. What really made that season finale so amazing though was the character arcs being tied off with Julien sadly being outed as a homosexual causing him to be attacked for it, Danni losing her job because of Vic, Aceveda winning the election, and most importantly the money train heist which is one of the most intense moments in the show, and brought for so many great character moments. I love the final montage, with a great music choice, as the strike team looks over the huge pile of money and they realized what they've done. I never would've imagined how amazingly the repercussions of this even would be dealt with and how much it would affect the ENTIRE show going forward. I don't have as much to say as the first finale because like I said there wasn't as much set up for the plot, apart from the money train heist, and this episode does have some fine reviews already, but this is extremely close to the season 1 finale for me, if only it was slightly better set up. Originally I was gonna give season 2 a 9.2/10 but knowing they had to change the season made me give it slight leniency and upped it to a 9.3/10. This was truly an amazing season that improved everything from the last season, and even though the last few episodes aren't as good as the first ones it still ends amazingly setting up for an even better season once again.

Greatest Season Finale EVER!
pdlamont14 June 2012
Warning: Spoilers
While I was always a fan of The Shield, this episode made me a super fan. The amazing last 3 minutes all playing to "Overcome" by Live gets me every time I watch it.

Danni at the firing range all alone pregnant with Vic's kid, Acevedo wins his election, Dutch looking baffled at the apparent hit on the money train and last the scene of all scenes with our 4 main characters in an emptied abandoned pool with all of the money piled up. Vic (Chiklis) facial expression goes from elated to overcome in a matter of moments as the camera pans through Ronnie, Shane & Lemansky who have been there long enough to realize the true gravity of what they have done.

Truly a masterpiece of television work! It was the longest wait from this ender to the season premier. Brilliant stories, brilliant directing, brilliant acting on all fronts! You are truly sucked into these characters and may even side with the bad guys!
