In the DVD commentary, David Mirkin says that all the men working on the show were crazy about guest star Winona Ryder and that he had never seen so many of the writers show up at the recording studio with their faces pressed against the window.
"Jeremy's Iron" as an anagram for Jeremy Irons is a perfectly acceptable answer for the anagram game Lisa, Allison, and Allison's Father played, since it describes the actor in a similar way that "Genuine Class" is meant to describe Alec Guinness. The only other grammatically correct anagram for Jeremy Irons is the nonsensical phrase "Jersey Minor."
Allison Taylor occasionally appears in later episodes as a background character, usually silent but whenever she has a line her voice is provided by Pamela Hayden, since Winona Ryder was only a one-off guest star.
Although written by Mike Scully, the episode's original concept was pitched by Conan O'Brien before he left the show. O'Brien suggested having an episode about a rival for Lisa, but the rest of the episode's storyline was written by Scully and other staff members.
Allison has an autographed picture of Bleeding Gums Murphy in her room.
