The Garrison
Prismark1027 August 2020
Thi episode is a good example of how the production made the best use of their meagre resources.

A ship, a garrison battle, all done on a television budget of a weekly show.

Drake nearly comes to blow with Sir Miles Burns who has accused Drake of cowardice.

Drake had sailed to a Dutch garrison of 500 English soldiers who are withholding the Spanish from advancing from the bay. However there was no one to meet them.

The Queen orders Drake to sail back and this time Drake finds that only 13 men have survived, some are injured and they are all starving.

These are men were entrusted to Miles Burns who seems unaware of their plight back in England. Drake can use his ship to push back the Spanish for several months.

Drake also gives Miles Burns his comeuppance and leave him in the Garrison. while bringing the injured men and their captain back to England.

There is a spiky performance from Terence Morgan and a good one from Patrick Wymark as Captain Williams.
