This is one of the better episodes I've seen of this underrated series, and it includes some familiar faces in John Saxon(Dr. Auden)and James McEachin(Ritchie Blair), as they are among a group of those with psychic powers that murder people, although both people murdered were asking for trouble, including the man holding a woman hostage. Dr. Rhodes and his turtleneck shirt look into why a man, who seemed opposed to whatever the group was into, suddenly dies without any obvious cause. After extensive experiments, it becomes clear that the entire group can cause deaths with their psychic abilities, and they even willingly cause this while watching a hostage situation on the television. Although they have this power, I never got the impression they were bad people, until they decided to take out Dr. Rhodes, to no avail, and there was even some dissension within the group, and the lone woman in the group named Annette Gordon(Tisha Sterling)confides to Dr. Rhodes that she is scared they may try killing her if she doesn't comply. A few tidbits that are worth mentioning is that this episode was directed by John Badham(Saturday Night Fever, WarGames), and there's a scene where one of the men is having a psychic moment that looked like his head was going to explode, and it was reminiscent of a film called Scanners(1981), where a man's head does indeed explode. I didn't expect this episode to go down the route that it did, and it was a pleasant surprise, and I enjoyed the acting very much as well, which also made this a viewing pleasure.
