Episode 35
kevinolzak25 April 2010
Episode 35 begins with Dutch asking Jessica for her blessing to run off with Eunice, and he explains how he killed in self defense a man who was trying to extort money from him,so he convinced him not to by shooting him(trouble was,the president of the "loan company" was the corrupt chief of police).Still amnesiac and confused,Chester disappears, followed by The Major, who joined in the search using his stuffed dog Sigmund, who led him "down to the river and wouldn't budge." Deputy Bobby Gilmore(Harrison Page)is called in to look for Chester, who goes under the name Marlene Dietrich, also Gloria Swanson, also Gunga Din.Benson recognizes the deputy as "The Chicken," the biggest coward in his old neighborhood("now you're a cop, that sure makes me feels secure!")advising him to take his time finding Chester,as the Tate household is a zoo(Jessica refers to the cop as Deputy Chicken).Burt tries, but fails,to end his affair with Sally, who then calls a mysterious person on the phone to report "it's working.Give me a few more weeks,he'll be a broken man." Danny and Elaine wonder if their constant lovemaking is normal, but their hard-won bliss is interrupted when two masked assailants kidnap Elaine.

Mickey Mouse had a gay dog!

Both Jessica and Jodie try to comfort a distraught Mary, who remains convinced that Burt is having an affair. Chester is still struggling to work out who he is, he goes missing, promoting Jessica to bring in The Police. Dutch turns up to take Eunice away.

It doesn't get a lot crazier than this one, wow even for Soap this one was outrageous.

Chester has been the source of pure hilarity over the last few episodes, here we get to see a somewhat different side to him, I now feel sorry for the poor guy. He does of course provide the laughs, the bedroom scene was a scream.

Jessica's conversation with Jodie about being gay was hilarious, I love her innocent naivety. The Manor and Sigmund, they're almost as good a double act as Chuck and Bob, great to see them playing more of a part.

What exactly is Sally up to? She's proving to be a real femme fatale.

Brilliant.

9/10.
