Very good episode
grantss20 November 2022
Gunmen storm the Turkish Consulate and hold several people, including many senior Turkish diplomats, hostage. Among the hostages is Zoe who is working undercover to infiltrate the Consulate. The gunmen are largely Kurds who want to gain some leverage over the Turkish government. However part of the group consists of ex-military Britons who have something very different in mind.

A very good episode of Spooks. The situation is a bit unique in that it is thrust upon MI-5 due rather than them selecting and planning the operation. The presence of Zoe in the hostage situation also forces that issue.

Good to see Tessa (Jenny Agutter) get a large share of the limelight for once. We also get to learn more about her past which is also fairly novel.

Episode 1.3

As Zoe is undercover at a party in the Turkish Embassy. It gets raided by Kurd separatists.

Zoe uses her mobile phone as the eyes and ears as Harry Preece is in the embarrassing position to inform the British cabinet how he has an inside woman in there.

The Kurds are assisted by what seems to be some ex British military types. It just that one is a ghost from the past, who plans to steal money and the names of all the secret service officials.

Another tense thrilling episode, there is always something more going on in this first series, it is never just the 'A' plot.

The episode still has time to reflect on the various characters personal life. This time on Tessa Phillips.

Danny Hunter also gets to reflect on someone he lost.
