Part of the speech Alternate Carter rehearses is an in-joke reference to what she told O'Neill in Children of the Gods (1997). She begins the same way ("just because my reproductive organs are on the inside instead of the outside...") then complains that it's a terrible speech. This is also what Brad Wright thought of that speech, as he mentions in the featurette to Children of the Gods (Final Cut.)
Jack O'Neill has been shown to love Homer Simpson from The Simpsons (1989); in the alternate time-line his boat is named "Homer".
Although he is frequently mentioned throughout the series, this episode marks the only appearance of Ra in Stargate SG-1 (1997).
O'Neill says Carter would not let him use the time machine to see the Cubs win the World Series. At the time of airing (March of 2005), the last time the Chicago Cubs had won the World Series was in 1908. The Cubs did, however, win it 11 years later in November of 2016).
While in the past, Carter says that she feels like she's going to step on a bug and change the future which is a reference to "A Sound of Thunder" by Ray Bradbury.
