The crew of the Tulip receive a radio transmission from a religious cult who are planning on crashing their spaceship into the sun. Lucretia (a fine performance by Claudette Roche) falls under the unnatural spell of charismatic cult leader Brother #13 (a mesmerizing portrayal by Leon Herbert). This episode's best, most gripping, and effective scenes are the ones in which Brother #13 seeks to gain control of Lucretia's soul and mind; it's genuinely unnerving to see this strong-willed woman get dominated by this cunning charlatan. Moreover, Percy (winningly essayed with spunky panache by Tanya Allen) has a few nice moments talking to Brother #13's loyal wife/disciple Marina (a charming turn by the pretty Marcelle Duprey). Michael Pare holds his own as the cynical Dante, who doesn't buy into this religion nonsense a single bit. Benjamin Waters likewise does well as doubtful follower Jacob. Most importantly, this episode offers plenty of strong and provocative observations about the abuse of power and religion as well as how the profound need to believe in something can lead one dangerously astray.
