50's Police procedural

Warning: Spoilers
A man arriving home from work is killed when he interrupts a burglary. Rod Cameron plays the Nevada state Trooper assigned to the case. Except for the added murder, the evidence at the scene is the same as six other recent burglaries. The one item they have in common is that the same contractor built all seven homes. Cameron poses as a carpenter in-order to get a job with the contractor. He then quietly starts checking out the company staff and management. He soon discovers an ex-con working there who had also worked on all seven homes. The con's girl works in the firm's office and wears a lot more jewels than either one of them could afford. They pull the two in for questioning. The ex-con is cleared but it seems his girl has been playing the field and collecting a few trophies along the way. She tells Cameron that the company accountant has been rather free with the gifts of late. When confronted with the evidence the man refuses to go quietly and makes a dash for freedom. A quick chase followed by a brisk gun battle is needed before the crook is dispatched and the case closed.
