Claude Chabrol begins this episode with a call to the drivers to spare the snakes:after all, they would not run over tortoises.
A wealthy industrial (Julien Guiomar, some may remember as the bishop/gardener in "Le Charme Discret De La Bourgeoisie")go for a drive with his young executive,a proper well-behaved young man (Hippolyte Girardot). All along the ride, flashbacks in black and white and in color tell us about the boss' dearest daughter Josephine ,who became crippled after an accident, but remained a rich heiress the boy covets. In the car ,in the darkest night,it's a heaven-set opportunity for this go-getter .
Not much suspense ,although the "surprise surprise" scene is not bad.
