- Mala: [holding Prof. Hamilton up with one hand; to Superman] And we're the only two people with these powers on the planet?
- [Superman nods his head yes; to Prof. Hamilton]
- Mala: And you, you're defenseless against us?
- Professor Hamilton: Yes. I'm just a human being. In fact, I bleed more easily than many. Please, put me down now.
- Mala: [after freeing Jax-Ur from the Phantom Zone] Welcome to Earth, my darling. Believe me, you're going to love it here.
- Mala: [after Superman rejects her advances] You'd spurn me? The last woman of your own kind?
- [Superman glances over at Lois, which causes Mala to glare at her]
- Mala: Oh, I see. You prefer the touch of these inferior creatures.
- Lois Lane: Hey, who're you calling infer-
- [Mala grabs her by the throat]
- Mala: You've seen your last yellow sunrise, woman.
- Superman: Mala!
- [just as Mala is about to pummel Lois, Superman grabs her wrist and flings her over to the building across the way, sending her crashing through the railing. She floats back up and flies back down toward Superman. He dodges and grabs her, putting her into a headlock]
- Mala: I will not go back! I'll destroy every being on this planet first!
- Superman: [to Lois] You okay?
- Lois Lane: [holding her throat; nods] Mm-hmm.
- [Superman flies off holding Mala]
- Lois Lane: Whoa. Talk about high maintenance.
- Professor Hamilton: I think you'll find this very interesting.
- Superman: [looking inside the Phantom Zone projector] The Phantom Zone. Believe it or not, we're looking through to another dimension.
- Professor Hamilton: Incredible!
- Superman: I saw this in Brainiac's orb. On Krypton, this is where they imprison dangerous aliens.
- Professor Hamilton: Amazing. I do wish the image were clearer.
- [twisting dials, he accidentally fires it, freeing a large crab-like alien]
- Professor Hamilton: Oh, dear.
- Superman: I think I may have made a mistake. The images I saw didn't say anything about her being so power-hungry. The fact is, I wonder if even Brainiac knew the whole truth about Mala.
- Professor Hamilton: Might there be a way she could repair some of the damage she's done?
- Superman: Maybe. I think it's time she spoke to the press. But have the projector ready. If Mala doesn't straighten out, we may have to send her back.
- Angela Chen: Mala mania has even hit Metropolis mogul Lex Luthor, who had this to say about the ex-con from Krypton.
- Lex Luthor: Now the truth comes out. Superman and this woman fancy themselves our rulers. No doubt they plan to populate the Earth with Kryptonians, reducing us to slaves or pets.
- Mala: [snickering] An enticing notion.
- Lex Luthor: If Superman really cares about the human race, he should send this criminal back to where he found her: to that Phantom Zone dimension.
- Mala: I'm never going back! Never!
- [she destroys the TV with her heat vision]
- Superman: [seeing Emil struggle to pry open a compartment in his rocket] Need a hand, Professor?
- Professor Hamilton: Oh. No, thank you. I think I'd like to beat this one myself. There seems to be a compartment in here that I hadn't noticed before.
- [prying it open, the force throws him backward into Superman's arms]
- Professor Hamilton: Whoa!
- Brainiac: Welcome to Krypton.
- Superman: Tell me about Mala.
- Brainiac: One moment, please. Mala, at the peak of her career, was second-in-command of planetary defenses, answering only to the high general himself, Jax-Ur. Jax-Ur and Mala, brilliant warriors each, stood together in service to the Council for years, until the thirst for power corrupted Jax-Ur's mind. Jax-Ur and Mala seized the ruling council and would surely have held on to power if not for one young scientist who had learned of the traitor's plans: Jor-El.
- Superman: Father?
- Brainiac: At their trial, Jax-Ur defiantly claimed sole responsibility for the insurrection, and was exiled permanently to the Phantom Zone. But the Council was sympathetic to Mala, who they believed was only following orders, and her sentence in the Phantom Zone was reduced to 20 years.
- Mala: Who are you? Start talking!
- Superman: I'm Kal-El, the one you spoke to. You're on a planet called Earth.
- Mala: Why? Why aren't we on Krypton?
- Superman: I'm sorry, Krypton was destroyed a long time ago. You and I are its only survivors.
- Mala: No!
- Superman: This is a lot to absorb. I should take her somewhere safe until she gets her bearings.
- Professor Hamilton: There's no one currently at the S.T.A.R. Labs retreat, if you'd like to use it.
- Superman: Thanks, Professor.
- [picking Mala up in his arms]
- Superman: Now hang on.
- Mala: [he takes off into the sky] People on Earth can fly?
- Superman: Actually, just me. And you, too, once your body absorbs enough yellow sunlight.
- Mala: Tell me more.
- Superman: [trying to return an alien to the Phantom Zone] Whatever you turned last time, turn it the other way.
- [Hamilton manages to turn it on, and the alien vanishes]
- Superman: You okay?
- Professor Hamilton: Yes. Just making a mental note to label that knob.
