Quotes

  • Lois Lane : Someday though it'd be nice to see you when I wasn't about to be killed.

    Superman : Someday...

  • Lois Lane : [after Lytener reveals he's the one after Lois]  Eddie, why are you doing this? What have I ever done to you?

Edward Lytener : That's just it! You never did anything for me and I risked it all: my job, my reputation, my research. I knew what would happen if Lex found out.

Lois Lane : You blew the whistle because it was the right thing to do.

Edward Lytener : WRONG! I blew the whistle because I wanted you to notice me. You didn't. But you will now.

[Lois kicks Lytener with a sweep]

Lois Lane : Daddy was a black belt!

  • Lois Lane : I'm not just "one of the other reporters". This was an attempt on my life, you know?

Detective Kurt Bowman : You really wanna be helpful? Try making a list of all the people who might wanna see you dead. And try to keep it to one page.

  • Superman : [rescuing Lois from her stalker's laser trap]  Are you okay?

Lois Lane : [indicating the singed shoulder of her jacket]  A little extra-crispy, but otherwise fine.

  • Lois Lane : Tell me something. How do you always manage to arrive just in the nick of time?

    Superman : It's a gift.

Lois Lane : You wouldn't be keeping an eye on me or anything?

Superman : Well... some people need more watching than others.

  • Lois Lane : I just hate this. I can't sleep, I can't eat. I feel so... helpless.

Clark Kent : Why don't you just relax?

Lois Lane : I can't relax. I feel like I should be out there doing something, not sitting here wondering what everybody else is up to. It feels... wrong.

Clark Kent : Why? Let other people take the risks for you for a change. The world can get by without Lois Lane for a couple of days.

Lois Lane : Yeah, just enough time for Julian to steal all my stories and my byline.

Clark Kent : Oh, by the way, Angela Chen called. She heard about your award on the news last night and wanted to congratulate you.

Lois Lane : [getting an idea]  On the news, huh? You know, Clark, maybe you're right. Let everyone else take care of things.

Clark Kent : That's the spirit.

Lois Lane : [picking up her purse]  In fact, I think I'll go relax in a nice, hot bath... right now. See ya.

  • Lois Lane : I thought if we put our heads together, we could figure out who's behind this. Of course, I hate to be taking you away from your work again, Eddie.

Edward Lytener : Not at all, Lois. I'm happy to help in any way I can.

Lois Lane : By the way, what were you working on so hard the other night?

Edward Lytener : Shh. Top secret.

Lois Lane : You certainly have the most amazing collection of gadgets. But... no TV? No radio?

Edward Lytener : Never. They're a wasteland of call-in drivel and news trivia. It would just break my concentra...

Lois Lane : [hearing him trail off]  What is it?

Edward Lytener : You know, don't you?

    Lois Lane : Know what?

Edward Lytener : [stopping her as she tries to escape]  Tell me, Lois... how did you figure it out?

Lois Lane : You congratulated me on my award, remember? If you were cooped up in this lab all night with no TV and no radio, then how did you know I'd won the Excalibur?

Edward Lytener : Such a clever girl.

  • Superman : [after Lois' car is hacked]  Are you all right?

Lois Lane : Yes, but Clark...

Superman : He's fine. I was able to cushion his fall.

[lifting up the back of her car, he takes something off and tosses it to her]

Superman : A little something for your insurance agent.

  • Superman : [saving Lois from a bomb-rigged elevator]  I believe this is your floor.

Lois Lane : [holding onto him tightly as he flies away]  I'm not having a good day.

  • Lois Lane : I'm really sorry to bother you like this.

Edward Lytener : It's no bother. I've been in this lab for 24 hours straight without looking up. I could use the break. And the company. The circuit patterns are a lot like what they're working on over at LexCorp R&D.

Clark Kent : How do you know that?

Lois Lane : Eddie used to work for Luthor. He was my informant on the Lex-Scam article.

Edward Lytener : By the way, Lois, congratulations.

Lois Lane : [uneasy]  Yeah. Thanks.

Edward Lytener : [looking under a microscope]  Hello. What's this?

    Lois Lane : [taking a peek]  "L.C."

Edward Lytener : It's from LexCorp, all right. Somebody there must really have it in for you, Lois.

  • Lois Lane : Arm still hurting?

Clark Kent : Eh, about the same as yesterday. I still think we should've taken it to the police first.

Lois Lane : [sarcastic]  Oh, yeah. I'm sure Detective Bowman won't rest 'til he finds out where this came from.

    [pressing an intercom]

Lois Lane : At least I know Edward Lytener will be helpful.

Edward Lytener : [via security feed]  Yes, yes, what is it?

Clark Kent : [sarcastic, too]  Oh, yes, very helpful, I'm sure.

  • Detective Kurt Bowman : Hmm. Some kind of electro-gizmo.

Lois Lane : It looks like it's got a...

Detective Kurt Bowman : When did you join the force? This is police business. When we have information, you'll get it along with all the other reporters.

  • Awards Presenter : ...in investigative journalism are Patrice Bandi for her article on illegal drug traffic...

    [applause]

Awards Presenter : ...Mike Hart for his exposé on diet fraud...

    [applause]

Awards Presenter : ...Julian Frey for his piece "No Profit Like Non-Profit"...

Lois Lane : Good luck, Julian.

Awards Presenter : ...and Lois Lane for "Lex-Scam: Nuclear Danger."

Julian Frey : You, too, my dear.

Awards Presenter : And the award goes to...

[nervously wringing her napkin, Lois notices the words "You win... You die!" written on it]

    Awards Presenter : Lois Lane.

Clark Kent : Lois, go up.

[as she goes to accept her award, he hears something like a pipe hissing]

Clark Kent : Did you hear that?

Julian Frey : Yes, I can hardly believe it, either. As if her ego weren't big enough already.

  • Lois Lane : Another in a long line of killing machines. It's not as much fun when you're on the receiving end.

Lex Luthor : I heard about the regrettable incident at the Excalibur Awards.

Lois Lane : Yes, and this little goodie was in my car. I have evidence it was manufactured here at LexCorp.

Lex Luthor : Really, Lois, I wouldn't leave so blatant a trail even if I were out to get you.

Lois Lane : And you're not?

Lex Luthor : No. Why would I be? I respect you and what you do... even when you're taking potshots at my company.

Lois Lane : But the device...

Lex Luthor : This disturbs me as much as it does you. If it came from LexCorp, I'll find out how it ended up in your car. I promise. Trust me, Lois.

  • Lois Lane : What do you think the chances are of Bowman actually solving this case?

Clark Kent : What's his problem?

Lois Lane : Oh, about two years ago, I wrote an exposé on police corruption. It cost him a promotion. He's had it in for me ever since.

    Clark Kent : Careful!

Lois Lane : [going around a big rig]  Don't worry, Kent. I'm always in control.

Clark Kent : If you want, I'd be happy to stay at your apartment tonight.

[she throws him a skeptical look]

Clark Kent : Somebody *did* try to kill you.

Lois Lane : And he failed. Look, Kent, I'm not worried. You shouldn't be, either.

  • Clark Kent : [after Lex offers his assistance]  Trust him? Why would you do that? He's just trying to keep you from nosing around LexCorp.

Lois Lane : Probably. But I believed him when he said he wasn't behind it. The way this assassin keeps warning me, it's like he wants me to suffer first. That's weird, but it's not Lex.

Julian Frey : [coming off the elevator]  Lois, my dear. Perry has just handed me some of your, uh, overdue assignments.

    Lois Lane : What?

Julian Frey : He was worried about you falling behind.

    [with a dry sarcasm]

Julian Frey : I certainly hope I can come up to your, uh... award-winning standards.

Lois Lane : [irked]  I'm sure you will.
