For whom the Bell Klangs...

I absolutely love Talespin, it is a funny, well animated show that deserves a lot more recognition. "For Whom the Bell Klangs" is a very good episode, it isn't the best episode, but it is certainly an entertaining one. Ed Gilbert and Jim Cummings are perfect as Baloo and Louie, also characters from one of my favourite Disney films The Jungle Book, and the theme tune is so catchy. Ellen Gerstell is lovely as Katie Dodd, a beautiful archaeologist that falls foul of a gator like villain named Thaddeus E.Klang, who wants her bells for himself, to find a lost city. Thaddeus E.Klang is not quite convincing a villain as Tony Jay's Shere Kahn, but Tim Curry's vocal performance more than compensates, quite sinister in tone yet funny as well. My favourite bits are when Baloo and Louie make fun of Katie when she is telling the truth about the bells(it was her facial expression), the scene when a Red Guard tries to sing and gets flattened by a stone causing Klang to say "It said B, not B flat!" and when Louie starts singing to open the hold holding Katie prisoner and Baloo says "Show off!" My favourite Klang quote would have to be "You Have a Sharp tongue madam, but my teeth are sharper". All in all, very entertaining, so I will award a 9/10, as I gave the whole show the same score. Bethany Cox.
