The cabbies are at Mario's, their usual hangout, when a pretty girl, Constance Forslund as Janet, walks in, takes off her coat, and sits at the bar. Immediately Tony and Bobby, "best friends", start arguing who saw her first, because both of them wanted to ask her out. They noticed that she didn't have any rings so reasoned, correctly, that she was unattached.
Alex steps in to avoid a scene as the two guys argue, and suggests flipping a coin to see which one would get to ask her out. In a final compromise, because neither guy would budge, they agree to BOTH ask her out.
It must have worked, because the next week at the garage both of them announce that they had a great time and Janet is wonderful. Now what to do? Alex is getting upset because both of them borrow money from him to take her to ever increasingly expensive places to impress. Alex comments, "I've never spent so much on a woman."
