- Kelso wants to win Jackie back by writing her a song, while Jackie turns to the unlikeliest person for comfort. Meanwhile, Red, Kitty and Laurie visit bitter Aunt Pearl (Connie Sawyer) in a retirement home, and Eric and Donna get into communication problems.
- As Red predicted, Kitty only baked Swedish pancakes to bring bad news: everybody must visit Aunt Pearl (Connie Sawyer), in a nursing home, who is even less welcoming. Red has a football game on TV, and Laurie wonders why Aunt Pearl is not dead yet. It is clear that nobody is looking forward to it. Aunt Pearl is annoyed that every time the family comes to visit, she has to put on her nice clothes and her teeth, and she doesn't like it at all. Pearl wants Kitty and the family to leave as soon as possible. Kitty is worried that when she grows old, nobody will come to visit her. So, Red makes the whole family stay.
Kelso is a mess now Jackie has dumped him and sets his hope on composing a makeup song. He cant sleep, he cant eat and he hasn't taken a bath in a while. He is in tears. His pain is beastly ignored or abused by the other basement boys.
Jackie is looking for emotional support and wants to spend more time with Hyde. Despite him not wanting to, Jackie takes Hyde to the mall. Hyde agrees when Jackie offers to pay. Jackie buys Hyde new shoes and takes him out for dinner as well. When Hyde refuses to go out with Jackie again, she tries to kiss Hyde, who pushes back and says he is only trying to help her and doesn't want to have a relationship with her (he finds her abrasive and arrogant).
Eric and Donna are having regular sex by now. Things are going smooth and Eric's confidence in himself is sky-high. Eric soon learns his arrogant confidence it can't happen to him is highly misplaced when firm feminist Dona promises to kick his Archie Bunker-Arse to the moon after Jackie convinced her to make a big deal of supposed double meaning in Eric's words. Donna is alarmed when Eric says he is spending time with the guys, and Donna can come if she wants. Donna found this patronizing. Jackie convinces Donna that she is under-reacting as all men, take all women for granted, all the time. Donna imagines her future with Eric when they are married. She thinks that Eric will be dismissive of her, dismissive of her needs and wants, and only focused on what he wants to do. Donna spews acid on Eric when he asks her to fetch a soda in front of his and her friends.
Eric is so ticked off with Donna being mad at him, that he smashes the guitar that Kelso had been practicing his song on. Kelso points out that it was Eric's own guitar. Kelso comes by to serenade Jackie and Jackie gives Hyde a peck on the lips before leaving. Kelso is livid.
Red and Fez laugh at how Eric doesn't realize that he is in trouble with Donna. Red advises Eric to apologize to Donna before she realizes that she is better off without Eric. Eric and Donna make up and Donna tells Eric that he will know he made a mistake when she gets mad at him later. Eric wants a better system, but they both can't think of any
