The Bad Wedding
Seras1112315 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Julian tries to iron out a better future for him and his girlfriend, and intends to give Ricky a helping hand as well. Instead, he comes up with a robbery scheme that puts them right back where they started: Jail.

What I liked most was seeing Corey, Trevor and Bubbles getting more screen time. All 5 of the guys have great chemistry and this was a funny, TPB patently chaotic way to close out a strong debut season. Going in with a bang, and going out with a bang.

Highlights: Bubble's pep talk with Ricky The supermarket friendly fire

No one eats bananas at a wedding!

Warning: Spoilers
Julian is in charge of putting together Ricky's wedding. Julian, Bubbles, Cory and Trevor plan to get Ricky blackout drunk so they can steal a car and rob a grocery store for food. They surprise Ricky by having his stag party at the strip club. While Ricky is passed out in the back of the stolen car, they go into the store with guns and start filling up shopping carts with hot dogs, chips and bananas. Ricky stumbles into the register line and asks for smokes when he turns around and starts shooting at Cory and Trevor. They escape to the car and back to the park.

The next day detective Ted Johnston stops by Ricky's and says he'll be seeing him soon. The ceremony takes place that afternoon and while Ricky and Lucy are reading their vows, the police come in and arrest Ricky. Julian drops on a knee and fires his gun in the air so he's arrested too.

Six months later, they're right back where they started in the correctional facility. Ricky sees it as a good thing like going to university. Julian explains the power of positive thinking and how jail isn't so bad. Ricky only misses getting drunk and stoned regularly and seeing Lucy and Trinity.

One of my favorite scenes in this season is the heart-to-heart conversation between Julian and Bubbles. Julian is stressed out from Lucy and the wedding and says he just wants to be left alone. Bubbles talks about his parents leaving him and being alone for the rest of his life. The sad piano tune playing in the background makes it a touching moment.

Season 1 revolves around Ricky, his family and Julian's loyalty towards his friends. We are briefly introduced to Bubbles, Ray, J-Roc and the rest of the gang in Sunnyvale. Mr. Lahey and Randy have yet to go off the rails with the booze. Season 1 establishes itself as a unique, low-budget mockumentary with an offbeat yet heartfelt look into the trailer park lifestyle.
