- Erik Söderberg makes an effort to find a living relative for his wife Anna in Germany. Orvar is finally getting married to his fiancée Eva and is building a villa. At Boda, a foreman is hired to cope with the spring cultivation.
- At the end of the Second World War, Anna Söderberg's relatives were searched for in the German concentration camps. When she has stopped hoping and suspects that everyone is dead, but then her husband, Wing Commander Erik Söderberg, takes it upon himself to at least find a relative for her. After a long engagement, Orvar Nilsson is now planning to marry his fiancée, Eva, and build an expensive villa for them. Orvar still doesn't know that he is the father of Lilian's child, perhaps mostly because he arranged for the abortion that failed. Despite the fact that the child Henrik is not particularly troublesome, Lilian finds it difficult to accept him. She often leaves him alone. Gösta has to take a large part of the responsibility and he also feels rejected by Lilian, who has become strangely sexually cold after the difficult birth. After a conflict, she turns to Anna Söderberg, who understands her difficulties. But, it culminates in a fight when Lilian tries to give the childless German woman her son. At Boda Farm, an agricultural foreman is employed to manage the spring cultivation. Peace is approaching, and Gösta's father, Egon Nilsson, can only imagine that Gösta will now come home again when the war is over. In Lilian's parents' home, the news that she has had a child hits like a bomb, metaphorically, although Building Constructor Melin doesn't seem too surprised.
