Tru falls for a fireman.

Warning: Spoilers
This series is still finding its feet. Is Tru there to save her family or will she get more involved with the people she needs to save? In this episode a fireman and a little girl are brought to the morgue after perishing in an apartment blaze. Suddenly Tru is propelled back to the morning and she must find a way to prevent the tragedy. Her investigation leads her to the superintendent who has a criminal record for fraud.

When she tracks down Nick Kelly she falls hard for him and her efforts become personal. Unfortunately Tru also discovers her live in boyfriend, Mark Evans, is cheating on her.

It feels like the writers are throwing out various story lines to see what works. The one where the hero is always unlucky in love doesn't do it for me. However, this is a reasonably good episode and I didn't see the plot twist until the end.

Warning: Spoilers
I'd missed the first episode of this series but found the story easy to pick up and quickly understood that Tru, played convincingly by Eliza Dushku, travels back in time to help dead people who ask for help in the morgue where she works. In this episode a fireman and a young girl are brought in to the morgue after a fire; after he asks for help she finds herself back in bed on the morning the fire is due to happen. Assuming it was an accident she goes to the fire station and asks to see the fireman and tells him she is a student needing to observe a fire safety check in a building, she talks him into doing a check and he finds a gas leak leading her to think all will be okay. It is not until later when he says it is a minor leak that wouldn't present an immediate danger does she realise that the fire was more likely arson and was still destined to happen; she must now attempt to find the arsonist and prevent him from starting the fire.

As well as the main story going back in time gives her an opportunity to confront her boy friend who she saw kissing another woman the previous time. Having dealt with the boy friend Tru is free to make her moves on the fireman unfortunately she only has a few hours to prevent him dying in a fire... assuming that is why she is there in the first place.

I wish I'd seen to opening episode as I rather enjoyed this, if future episodes are as good I'll probably stick with the series.
