In his introduction to "New Stories from the Twilight Zone", the series' executive story consultant Alan Brennert described both "Monsters!" and the Profile in Silver/Button, Button (1986) segment "Button, Button" as "good scripts mauled by bad directors, bad production, bad acting, or all three."
This episode, with the segment "A Matter of Minutes" was aired on January 24, 1986, but takes place at 11:37 on April 27, 1986. Adolph Caesar, who plays the Supervisor of the blue people that build time, died on March 6 of that same year, 53 days before the day that he built arrived.
In "A Matter of Minutes", as the Wrights are running past a theater, the production being performed is "Time Bandits".
Toby claims that he has seen every Hammer film at least six times.
"Monsters!" has no narration, at either the beginning or the end. Neither "A Small Talent for War" nor "A Matter of Minutes" have an opening narration.
