The Alliance of Gay and Lesbian Artists Association applauded the accepting message toward homosexuals in "Dead Run".
John Barlow, a lyricist of the Grateful Dead (who contributed to the theme-song writing), made an appearance as a driver in "Dead Run".
Brent Spiner and John de Lancie would go on two years later to act together in eight installments of Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987). de Lancie's character there as in this series had god-like powers.
"Dead Run" refers to a trucker heading back to "home base" after unloading his haul.
The House Of The Book filming location of John De Lancie's scene in this episode was also used in Descent (1993) which revolved mainly around Brent Spiner who would also appear in this episode.
