Hazel Bellamy puts Hudson in his place!
arrival31 August 2010
Warning: Spoilers
June, 1915, One of my favourite episodes from this fourth season, when Hazel for once exercises her authority above stairs when she ticks Hudson off for scare mongering the other servants with false spy stories. Hudson, having a dislike of Hazel Bellamy does not take this well - thinking she was not of the class that should have ever have had servants, and so this is quite rewarding in its retaliation for Mrs. Bellamy. Hazel was not one to use her authority often, but having been cornered, does so here with great gusto! A family of Bakers of German origin arrive at Eaton Place injured and for protection when their shop is attacked by vicious and suspicious Brits. The staff do not wish to believe English people to be capable of such horrors (the same goes for some very gullible British people today) but the British are just as capable as anyone else during war-time. Hudson wishes to send them on their way, but Hazel, as always comes up trumps when she says: 'they can have my bedroom if necessary'! How I loved her character... She also has a go at the selfish Georgina who leads men astray and is so carefree towards them as they are sent to the front to die for their country.
