The Hogans tolerate a visit from Valerie's miserable chain-smoking Aunt Josephine, who dies before the visit is over.
TV fans will instantly recognize Nan Martin as the actress who played Freda Claxton on THE GOLDEN GIRLS - the old battleaxe who expires after Rose tells her to drop dead.. Interestingly, that GOLDEN GIRLS episode aired just a few weeks before this one did - both on NBC.
The script works well finding humor in death as the service is held in the Hogan's living room, where everyone seems more interested in the food than paying their respects. BTW, Mrs. Poole's secret ingredient in her tuna salad is Cool-Whip!
The bit with the hankies after Mrs. Poole breaks down was a cute callback to an earlier scene with Aunt Josephine.
Worth seeing for Martin's abrasive performance and everyone's discomfort around her.
