- In the 90's syndication package, some footage is cut from the beginning to eliminate "Suction Prints" by Captain Beefheart and Johnny's corresponding announcement. Interestingly, though, the announcements aren't redubbed, so Johnny still says, "There's no holding back when it comes to Eric Clapton," even though the music he proceeds to play isn't Clapton's. The Nicolette Larson song that Johnny plays at the end is replaced by a reprise of the WKRP ending theme. Johnny's announcement is also lost.
- On the DVD release, all music is replaced and re-recorded the radio contestants' voices.
- On the 2014 DVD release (with the original soundtrack restored), the ending is significantly different. John Wheeler plays the fake Don Pesola, who gets away with the money. The following scene has Johnny bumming money from Venus and running a Public Service Announcement to try to recover the stolen money. Johnny mentions that WKRP gave away $10,000, which would include the stolen money.
