Meat and Hides

Young Michael Burns has some trouble with some hide hunters as per the title of this Wagon Train episode. In this last season of Wagon Train Burns has grown up some and now is packing a six gun and like Michael Landon he's a left handed draw.

Depending on your views you can analyze this episode in many different ways. The Wagon Train needs fresh meat and John McIntire makes a deal with some buffalo hide hunters, the Wagon Train gets the meat, the hide hunters get the hides.

The group is headed by Morgan Woodward and he's got a brother played by Chris Robinson who is just looking for trouble. He starts riding young Burns for no reason other than he thinks he can get away with it. Woodward knows what he has in a younger brother, but he's family.

Robert Fuller and Burns go with the hide hunters and the issues between Robinson and Burns finally come to a head.

The story is about bullying and gun control if you will. Good to remember that while it's certainly not the wild west now, Wagon Train is a western and thing were they were back in those days. Burns gets crowded and has occasion to use his new weapon on someone.

For what happens in the end tune in to this Wagon Train episode if broadcast.
