A lot of spending loot
bkoganbing12 February 2018
Some sharp viewers will no doubt recognize that this Wagon Train story is taken from the W. Somerset Maugham classic Rain. The sin might be different but the plot's the same.

Outlaw Peter Fonda is caught by bible thumping Marshal John Doucette who not only is interested in bringing him in, but saving his soul. At one time Doucette was an outlaw, but he got converted to fundamentalist religion and law and order in that order.

Fonda buried $50,000.00 in stolen loot and Doucette wants him to dig it up and return that also for the redemption of his soul. But Fonda sure as Sadie Thompson got Reverend Davidson's hormones jumping, is appealing to the sin of greed in reminding Doucette what it was like in those outlaw days with a lot of spending loot.

The Wagon Train regulars are strictly in support of Fonda and Doucette and if you've seen Rain on stage and screen you know how this one goes.
