Husbands for the Steele girls
bkoganbing10 May 2014
This episode of Wagon Train has Ward Bond doing a favor for his Aunt Agatha and taking the Steele Family of women across the plains and watching out special for them. The family is the Lee Patrick as the widow Steele and her beautiful and single daughters Lori Nelson, Diane Jergens, Penny Edwards and Barbara Eiler.

These girls all eligible for marriage and attractive to boot cause a whole lot of problems, but Lee Patrick has picked out husbands for them. Her picks don't always match up with her daughter's wishes. That leads to a whole lot of romantic complications.

Ward Bond and his crew are by no means off limits. Patrick has set her cap for him if possible. Robert Horton is not in this episode and he probably made sure to take long scouting trips on this westward voyage.

Accent is on comedy in this story with a touch of romance.

chick flick episode
drystyx6 July 2021
Usually, this series had good stories, and were inspirational.

There literally is zero inspiration in this one, which is a total chick flick.

There are four daughters in the Steele family, all pale, three of them blond, so in Hollywood Nazi tradition, it's an all woman family. No eye candy for the men. Even the non blond isn't that hot, so they're the "plain Jane" family of next door women.

But women identify with these plain Jane types, so they have everything going for them. There really isn't any suspense or mystery about anything here. The feeble attempt at comedy is all geared to the women.

An ordeal to watch, and honestly depressing in its lack of inspiration, considering that the Wagon Train writers never had any problem just killing off the hot women, but Hollywood neo Nazi tradition makes it so you know nothing bad will happen to these women. Hence, no mystery, nothing but yawns. "Boring" is an understatement.
