A Married Nun?
mclaughlinjohn-9187017 July 2021
I wasn't aware that nuns were able to marry in the 1930s. In every scene Jeanette Nolan appears playing Sister Scholastica, a wedding ring can be seen. How could the directors not have seen that?

Nuns and wedding rings

Nuns are not, and were never allowed to marry. Most orders wear wedding rings to signify their vows to God.

Warning: Spoilers
I grew up as a Catholic, my mother's choice, not mine. Like our visitor to Walton's Mountain some choices in life have to be made. They are not easy when it means it's for life. Mary Francis has to make one. To be a nun or not.

Ben has to make some choices also. His is to choose a good worker to help out in the mill. It's his time to learn how to be a man and a boss working along side his father. It's not an easy time for him.

Jim Bob has made a friend in Mary Francis. He won't understand her choice for her life at first. With each person we meet in life we grow a little. We always hope for the good. Jim Bob will learn a little about life through heart ache.

Again seeing Grandma getting stronger is such a sweet blessing. Just love this show.
