John Colicos the Alpha Alien
Johnny_West24 June 2020
John Colicos was an excellent actor who played the first Klingon commander, Kor, to appear on Star Trek TOS. Many years later he appeared as Kor again, on Star Trek Deep Space Nine. He was also Count Baltar on the original Battlestar Gallactica TV series. His career spanned from 1950 to 1999. He passed away in 2000.

Colicos plays Quinn, a famous and very wealthy avante garde artist. Blackwood is a big fan, and wants to buy some of his art. Quinn knows that Blackwood is working for the Government to stop the alien invasion, and he invites Blackwood to visit his studio, so he can trap Blackwood.

Colicos (as Quinn) really takes this show to a much higher level. He acts circles around Jared Martin, who never really fit into his role as a genius scientist. Martin looked more like an old tennis or golf pro at a local country club. Jared Martin never seems convincing as someone who is concerned about an alien invasion. His sarcastic remarks and divisiveness with the team make it all about him, not the alien invasion.

Colicos is the only alien who is immune to the diseases that kill off all the other aliens. He also has permanently merged into his human form, so he cannot shift bodies. The aliens want to dissect him to find out why his immunological system is so much stronger than the rest of the aliens.

Colicos wants to take over as the supreme leader of the aliens, so he can wipe out 90% of the human race, instead of the entire human race. It is kind of a sarcastic point of view, but Colicos makes it seem real. For one episode of this show, it was scary science fiction. Colicos really puts conviction into his lines.

Most of this episode he is paired up with Jared Martin, because Colicos kidnapped Harrison Blackwood. Colicos brings intensity and emotion to his role. I was really impressed, because Colicos could have just mailed it in, like most of the other guest stars did on this show. Thanks to Colicos, I think that this is one of the best episodes of WOW.
