Gray haired Sweathogs still waiting to graduate
kevinolzak2 July 2016
"Kotter for Vice Principal" anticipates the fourth season, with Woodman's contract due to expire, the Sweathogs getting a petition to appoint Gabe new vice principal. A suddenly groveling Woodman is stunned to learn that Kotter isn't interested in taking his job, at least until he accuses Gabe of not having the guts. This leads into an incredible dream sequence set in 2050, in which Gabe looks exactly the same, while all of the Sweathogs are old and gray, and still stuck in the same classroom (Washington sporting a Lou Gossett type bald pate). John Travolta's elderly Barbarino is a real hoot, a mustache, false teeth and a pot belly, still admiring himself in the mirror, sliding off his chair and unable to get back up! Ernest Harada debuts as Mr. Jan of the school board, starting out as a Chinese minister in Gabe's dream. This episode for the first time mentions Julie's broken arm, and feature Helaine Lembeck's next to last appearance as Judy Borden.
