- TriviaThe President asks, "are you trying to tell me Freemasons don't like me?" to which Charlie responds, "not a huge demo for you, no.". While it's true that the Freemasons of Saint John's Lodge No. 1 do own the Washington Bible and most of the rules surrounding the lending of the Bible as stated are generally correct, the Freemasons would not deny any President of any stripe the use of the Bible for political reasons. Freemasons are not only devoutly apolitical, they are also intensely patriotic and as part of their oaths even swear to be peaceable citizens of the state where they reside and to never countenance rebellion. The reality is that the Washington Bible has been used in 5 Presidential Inaugurals for member of both political parties and the Freemasons have always supported the use of this Bible, happily incurring the transportation expenses without reimbursement from the government.
- GoofsPresident Bartlet's second inauguration is portrayed as happening on a Sunday. When January 20th happens on a Sunday, while the President is still sworn in on that day, the actual inauguration always takes place the next day, on Monday, with the oath repeated at the full public ceremony. However, see the Trivia for why this might not be a goof on The West Wing.
- Quotes
President Josiah Bartlet: There's a promise that I ask everyone who works here to make: Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world. Do you know why?
Will Bailey: Because it's the only thing that ever has.

Yoooooooooooooooooo just when I thought I was going to take a break from this show
...It gets so insane that I have to continue watching. Seriously the writing in this episode is so good that I wasn't even thinking about whether I agreed with its philosophy on American interventionism, I was just plain cheering for bartlet and it felt awesome. So so so well written. I love it.
