The first contestant was Harold Gold, a New York fireman. The added twist to his occupation was that he had put out a fire on the morning of December 15, 1953 in Dorothy Kilgallen's apartment. Gold stumped the panel and Dorothy did not recognize him.
Moderator John Daly again mentioned at the close of the telecast that Dorothy was returning to Cleveland for the week to cover the murder trial of Dr. Sam Sheppard.
The telecast was live from New York and sponsored by Remington electric shavers.
Mystery Guest Elizabeth Taylor was in New York for the premiere of her movie, 'The Last Time I Saw Paris,' at the Capitol theatre. She was six months pregnant with her second son, Christopher Wilding, during her 'What's My Line?' appearance.
