Wild and Wilder

You have to love any television show that has the good sense to cast Sherry Jackson in it.

Fan favourite for being in so many genre shows on television she shines in this episode as Lola Cortez.

William Schallert, later of Hardy Boys fame plays the rotten old games master and as these supposed rich people all wander around in a room playing games and vying for gifts the boys have to find an explosive which will explode in a number of hours.

It really doesn't make any sense but the colors to the show are vibrant and everybody looks like they're having a great time making it.

Enjoyable.

Sometimes this series mixes women in episodes better than others. This one does pretty well. Parlor games and men and women go together well in one of the better season 4 spisodes.

William Schallert (Patty Dukes Dad) gets a rare episode with Ross Martin. Schallert was often subbing for an ailing Martin during this series. This episode benefits from having both (like the Night of The Bubbling Death ) in the cast. In this case Shallert is the bad guy. When looking back at Schallert's TV work, he is definitely under appreciated as an actor his entire career. Whenever he is cast in support anywhere, the show benefits.

Sherry Jackson as Lola Cortez is one of the more ultimate femma fatales for this story. This one is a lot of fun and while limited on the special effects compared to some shows, works very well with a stronger than usual cast.

Curious episode, but why not?

Yes, after all, why not this kind totally waco story? I nearly fell asleep in the middle, with the silly games, and not gruesome,, but I sudddenly woke up when Jim West made his most sensational stunt of the whole series: watch out folks, at the 26th minute, when he is hit in the face by the giant bald man. WATCH OUT !!!! He fell on the floor, back flat and then ....Incredible, there must be a trick, not possible otherwise. But that remains a fun watching episode, though certainly not the best of the show. And there is also an anti climax here, as in the previous episode.

Best Hit of the Series

William Schallert plays a rich old coot who can invite important people to his home to play childrens' party games.

The trick is, a bizarre doctor Jim and Artie were chasing has planted a powerful explosive in the house and while the games continue Jim and Artie must find the hidden vial before it goes off.

Robert Conrad is always delighted to show off his athletic skills and getting whopped by one of the old coot's servants while searching a beautiful woman's room he performs an absolutely amazing stunt. Worth seeing.

Schallert doesn't do much but watch the games. But is he as much off his head as he acts?
