Horrible...and very unfunny

I normally don't review individual episodes of "Wings" but really felt obliged to after watching "Duet for Cello and Plane" because it was so incredibly awful and mean. While I enjoyed the show and loved a few episodes, the writing really was terrible in this one.

The episode begins with Helen interviewing for a spot as a cellist for the tiny Kennebunkport Symphony. And, while she's never had much success with music, she wins the job. However, this means her moving to Maine and having a long distance relationship with Joe.

So far, this was a fine show...no problem. However, when the duo met to talk about it, instead of behaving like adults, they start name- calling and begin fighting. At first, all this is mildly cute...but then turns very ugly and suddenly you have characters you've grown to love on the show eviscerating each other--and it really is brutal and ugly. What's funny about this? Nothing. And, when the episode ends, the two can't stand to be with each other and Helen leaves. Wow....fun this ain't!!

While it's only the end of season two and the show had six more seasons, this sure felt like the show jumped the shark on this one. Fortunately, they DID manage to salvage the show but seeing two folks being this ugly isn't funny...it's just sad and depressing.
