Xena (in Callisto's body) says, "Well, as you can see, rumors of my demise were greatly exaggerated." This is a play on the famous quote from Mark Twain: "The rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated."
The episode's director Charles Siebert, who helmed a number of Hercules and Xena episodes, makes his only on-screen appearance in the Xenaverse as the villain Sisyphus. (He did voice work on other episodes.) This character was previously played by Ray Henwood in Death in Chains (1995) and Highway to Hades (1995). The storyline for Sisyphus is a haphazard one, which each episode appearing to reboot the character's backstory and personality, with no regard for what came before.
Baracus, which gives it name to the monster-of-the-week, is a type of butterfly native to India. (Another butterfly in southern Africa was formerly identified with Baracus, but is now separated as Kedestes.) The best-known use of the name Baracus in popular culture is the heroic character played by Mr. T in The A-Team (1983).
