Before Don Grady became one of Fred MacMurray's 3 sons he starred in this Zane Grey Theater production of a 12 year old boy who has gone into the Union Army to avenge his father. Because he knows telegraphy Grady is given the job of setting up listening posts for their advance scouts. Of course to the Confederates that means spies and when two Confederates played by Dick Powell and Simon Oakland catch Grady the question is what to do with him.

Of course everyone is in uniform so no one is really a spy in the official sense. But it's Powell and Oakland in Union occupied territory and they've got a right to be concerned that he'll give them away.

Most of the story takes place with Powell and Grady who bond with each other. Powell has a bit of humanity left that the brother and against brother Civil War hasn't taken out of him. He's got real problems with killing a child.

Powell does some of his finest acting on the big screen and small in this Zane Grey Theater story. His fans should not miss this one.

Two Confederate soldiers in Unionist territory comes across a 12 year old soldier who know how to operate a telegraph system.

The question is what to do with him?

Let him go and the boy will give their position away.

Lawrence (Dick Powell) bonds with the boy. His fellow soldier wants to kill him, something Lawrence is uneasy about.

It's a morality peace, how much of your humanity is robbed by the war.

Dick Powell and Don Grady have a good rapport but it's very wordy.
