Great early performance by the great Pernell Roberts.

In this episode Roberts portrays the baddie Banning who is gunning for the sheriff who killed his brother, even though the man Walter Pidgeon is now blind. Roberts displays his acting chops in this before Bonanza role. The episode was entertaining..,,just wish it as a bit longer.

The law is really blind

Walter Pidgeon made the first of two appearances on the Zane Grey Theater in this episode playing a former sheriff who went blind because of an accident. A grateful town kind of pensioned him off and he now works at a newspaper office setting type.

The fact he's now blind makes no difference to Pernell Roberts just out of prison and looking for revenge. Pidgeon nailed Roberts and the brother for bank robbery and the brother tried to shoot it out with Pidgeon, a very fatal mistake.

The interesting thing here about this story was that unlike Hadleyville in High Noon and the town in Johnny Concho this town stands up for itself and helps the former sheriff to a degree. It's still Pidgeon's shootout and it's a close run thing.

Good ensemble performances in this outstanding Zane Grey Theater episode.
