This episode appeared to have a interesting plot when the Governor of Texas agrees to release a known gunfighter, Lee Duval, from prison so that he can work to stop unlawfulness in the area of Louisiana border. This seemed like it was going to be an episode that would tickle the strings of excitement. However, we have a thirty minutes show that was about a dry as the sand in Arizona.
I would try to give you a summary of the story but was not clear on exactly what was happening. Duval was released from prison and is suppose to check-in with the Governor's office from time to time -but his exact job was less than clear. Most of the story was about going to a town and people asking questions till someone is dead. Perhaps it was just me not understanding the script, but it was a total mess.
Another thing about the show that was disturbing was that all the action was to take place on the Louisiana border, yet all the scenes were shot like it was a town near the Mexican border. You had the typical stereotype Mexican casting and a saloon taken right out of the sands of El Paso. Not enough thought was put into directing this show.
Cesare Danova did all he could with the script but it just felt so out of place. The flow of the story never developed. It was a nice concept but poorly played.
